Usually for shopkeepers neither Vanessa or I consider that we are particularly talented in the “selling” department.  While there is nothing that we love more than meeting some-one interesting and having a discussion about antiques we tend to rely on presenting the right items and pricing them as reasonably as we can and then hoping for the best.

This strategy seems to work pretty well for us particularly as it allows us to ...........................

concentrate on getting out and about scouting for rare, interesting and unusual stock for the shop.  While there really are some fantastic items hidden away here in Brisbane, I always love the chance to buy in the UK, as there is just such huge range of items available.  As an added bonus I can couple the buying with my love of travel, museums, architecture, food and the English theatre.

I have had a great response to the items that arrived 10 days ago and have made some great sales.  Thanks to some regular customers as well as a few “first timers”, well over a third of the items that arrived have already sold and I anticipate that lots of the other pieces will go to new homes soon.  With this in mind it didn't take too much encouragement from my father, Bruce (who introduced me to buying in the UK originally) to book another trip, leaving in a couple of weeks.

Taking this trip will mean that I will land some fresh stock just prior to the QADA Antiques Fair in May.  I have already been working a few leads with established contacts and look forward to visiting all my favourite haunts.
