French Music Cabinet
This French walnut marquetry music cabinet is of the highest quality and would have once graced a fine Parisian home (there is a Paris makers label attached). The detailed veneers are enhanced with detailed ormolu mounts, fine brass galleries and a rouge marble top.
The piece is in perfect original condition and retains its ornate key. The mirrored back makes the shelves an ideal place to display beautiful small items and height and shape of the piece will really enhance a clock, sculpture or beautiful floral arrangement displayed on the marble top.

Victorian Period Backstool
In the Victorian era the interest in collecting ancient furniture first emerged. Designers in this period also created new items inspired by earlier times and this chair is an example of this practice. It is a fairly “true” copy of an early 17th century backstool (these were the earliest chairs).
The hundred or so years that have passed since the chair was made have worked their magic and it now has a lovely patina, with the original leather charmingly crazed and crackled and the decorative brass studs taking on a lovely golden hue.

Smokers Bow Armchair
Smokers Bow’s must be amongst the most comfortable chairs ever made and this is an especially nice example with a lovely wide seat. These chairs were traditionally found in hotels and clubs and are very strong and sturdy. This chair dates from around 1890 and has survived in remarkably good order. We have carefully revived the original finish, made some minor repairs and freshly waxed it.

Mahogany Side-table
This early Victorian mahogany side-table is of the highest quality and it is in very good original condition having had the finish revived and the joints fully reglued in our workshop. The pieced sides are an unusual and decorative feature. The side-table will look especially striking if it's placed in a location, such as a hall, where it will be approached from the side.

Grecian Child's Rocker
This late Victorian rocker would make a lovely gift for a child. The original ebonised finish has been revived and the chair retains its original gilt brass rosettes. I love the mellow look of vintage fabric and had just enough antique raspberry damask (which came to me unused since the 1890's) to complete this special little rocker.

English Boarded Coffer

17thC Oak Bible Box
We always love items with an interesting story, small furniture and examples of early oak and this little bible box is all of the above.
The box dates from the late 1600’s and as the name suggests it would have been used to store the family bible. The stand is well made and of matching design but has been added later, probably during the first craze for early furniture in the 1880’s.

Circa 1790.

Our mothers loved these in the 1960's and 70's and no doubt thought that these were the latest and greatest modern gadget for their prized offspring. Little did they know they had already been around for 200 years! This Georgian baby walker is a real curiosity and usually only seen in books, it is made of elm around 1770.
