Victorian Butter Stamps

These quaint hand-carved beech butter stamps date from the 1800's.  Originally they were used by small dairy's to "brand" butter intended for sale in the village market.

The butter stamps both have a bleached finish which develops from years of being scrubbed in hot water and washing soda.

B&P Blanc Mange Mould

This Victorian mould is a lovely example of early advertising for Brown and Polson’s corn-flour.

Corn-flour Blanc Mange doesn't sound too appetizing to me but no doubt that this mould has turned out quite a few.  It is in great condition.

Victorian Carved Bread Boards

These beechwood breadboards are all hand carved and date from the Victorian era. They are all different with various wheat themes and mottos such as bread, waste not, spare not and a wedding gift (these were often referred to as wedding boards as they were commonly given as wedding gifts).

The Victorian housewife would scrub her breadboard with washing soda and consequently these have developed a lovely bleached patina.
